The Ring of Chairs – The Story of a Spirit Trained Medium, tells of the experiences of Janet Cyford a British Spiritualist Medium. The book is an account of her life long development as a Spiritualist Medium. Her training by Spirit teachers, and her continuing work for God the Great Spirit.
From the Author: “Much loved Spirit Guides, helped shape my character and by their example, I learned to rely upon the Spiritual Self that lights the Soul from within. Several family members were Mediums and Spirit phenomena, occurred regularly in our home circle. I sat in our family’s ‘Ring of Chairs,’ from a very young age.”
Much later I discovered other youngsters did not have contact with Spirit in their homes.
My natural gifts of clear-seeing and awareness of Spirit, grew from childhood in the fertile ground of my parent’s acceptance and understanding. Even with a natural gift, potential Mediums must learn to govern their sensitivity with personal self-discipline.”
Differing from most books listed as a medium’s story, this book is not an attempt to amplify the person but rather weaves a beautiful teaching of Spirit and Spiritualism and the British Medium’s understanding. From the very beginning, the author clearly points to the fact that while thinking she must set straight the misinformation being promulgated by the media, she found the whole concept to have been Spirit directed. We are made aware that the world of Spirit is not some far distant land but rather simply a different rate of vibration – a different frequency than the physical world we know.

A “must read” book for seekers of enlightenment .
Janet Cyford’s book on Mediumship is excellent. She gives the reader an insightful look into the process of communicating with Spirit and shares her journey with thoughtfulness and skill. I would highly recommend this book.
This is an amazing book from Janet’s wonderful talent of Mediumship. If you want a better understanding, read this book. This is one of those books where you read something and put it down and think about what she has said. This book provides a very interesting description with recalled experiences to help you better understand not only Mediumship but how Spirit can give guidance to each of us. Janet, write another – please! Suggestion for next book: Help us believe in our inner self to fight our egos to follow our correct paths? Thank you!

This book is extremely valuable for anyone who wants to understand and learn what mediumship is truly about, without the nonsense. This is a wonderfully down to earth look at the life of people, like the author, who were raised from childhood knowing the other side is right here with us and a perfectly natural part of our relationships. The author’s discussion of mediumship development and forming and conducting a development circle are important for anyone who is seriously drawn to this type of work. This book is on my personal list of top ten favorite books!

This book is absolutely outstanding. I bought mine from Janet Cyford herself after a consultation. Everything in her book is exactly as she preaches. Her work comes straight out of the book and is extremely helpful for developing a circle group. I can’t read any other ‘spiritual’ or ‘medium’ stories because they don’t stack up to this one. She has real stories from her life and examples we should all follow. I HIGHLY recommend this book if you are interested in the subject or if you need an interesting easy read.

Like talking with an old friend .
This book and author reminded me of the way I grew up… many of the experiences she describes happened in our home, too. I am recommending this book to everyone I know.

A reading with Janet Cyford saved my life, after losing someone very close to me. She gave me outstanding evidence, with great compassion and insight, that my loved one is alive on the other side. Most mediums pale in comparison.
Since then, I have read practically every book available on Amazon about the Afterlife, After-Death Communications, and Mediumship. So many of the books are full of – at times questionable – popular concepts in the field (often adopted without first-hand experience by the authors/mediums themselves), and/or New Age-y nonsense. This is one of the few books out there that is sensible, enlightening, and truly informative. Ms. Cyford writes in a refreshing no-nonsense manner. Her personal story, evidential examples, and teachings are all fascinating to read. “Ring of Chairs” is a “down-to-earth”, practical – yet, poignant – guide to understanding and connecting with the spirit world. It includes substantial information on how to create a safe, constructive, home circle for spiritual development and healing. As she expresses, it is through our own experiences that we will find the answers we seek. She is the real deal, and “The Ring of Chairs” is testimony to it. I wish there were more books like this one!
